Saawan Kumar made his directorial debut in 1972 with the film “Gomti Ke Kinere”. Saawan then directed for the film “Hawas” in 1974. After this Saawan worked as the director of many films including Khal-Naaikaa (1993), Laila (1984), Ab Kya Hoga (1977), Mother (1999), Saajan Ki Saheli (1981), Pyaar Ki Jeet (1987), Sanam Bewafa (1991), Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai (Lyrics) (2000), Chaand Kaa Tukdaa (1994), Dil Pardesi Ho Gayaa (2003), and more.
Saawan Kumar also wrote songs for many movies, including “Hum Bhool Gaye” in Souten Ki Beti, “Zindagi Pyar Ka Geet Hai” in Souten Ki Beti, “Yeh Dil Bewafa Se Wafa” in Bewafa Se Wafa. All songs are sung with Lata Mangeshkar.
