KFAS Announces Awardees of the 33rd Jaber Al-Ahmad Award for Young Researchers

Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) has proudly unveiled the accomplished recipients of the 33rd Jaber Al-Ahmad Award for Young Researchers. This prestigious award, which annually recognizes Kuwaiti researchers holding doctoral degrees, grants a significant prize of KD 10,000 to each recipient.

The announcement of the award winners follows its approval by HH the Crown Prince, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who also serves as the Chairman of KFAS’s board of directors. The selection process involved meticulous consideration by the board of directors, awards council, and jury committees at KFAS.

Excellence in Medical and Auxiliary Medical Sciences

In the domain of medical and auxiliary medical sciences, the award was secured by Dr. Mohammed Haider Jamal. Dr. Jamal serves as an associate professor in the Department of Surgery at the Faculty of Medicine at Kuwait University. He boasts Canadian and American board certifications in surgery and has contributed significantly to his field. With an impressive record of 64 scientific research papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals, three books, and three chapters in medical books, Dr. Jamal exemplifies excellence in medical research.

Outstanding Achievements in Natural Sciences and Mathematics

Dr. Dhari Adel Al-Hawail emerged as the winner in the field of natural sciences and mathematics. Dr. Al-Hawail is an associate professor in the Department of Information Sciences at the Faculty of Life Sciences at Kuwait University. Holding a doctorate in information systems management from the University of Maryland, he has authored 45 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Al-Hawail’s distinguished contributions have earned him fellowship status with the International Academy of Informatics and Health Sciences and the American Medical Informatics Association.

Pioneering Work in Engineering Sciences

In the field of engineering sciences, Dr. Yacoub Youssef Al-Asiri clinched the award. Dr. Al-Asiri serves as a researcher in the coastal management program at the Center of Environmental and Life Sciences at the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research. With a doctorate in water engineering from Cardiff University, he has made significant strides in his field, having published 18 scientific papers in scientific journals.

Contributions to Social and Human Sciences

Dr. Abdullah Rashed Al-Shibli secured the award in the social and human sciences category. He is an associate professor at the Department of Private Law at Saad Al-Abdullah Academy for Security Sciences. Dr. Al-Shibli holds a doctorate in economic laws and corporate governance from the University of Leeds and has an impressive record of 15 scientific papers in refereed journals and six books.

Leadership in Administrative and Economic Sciences

The award for administrative and economic sciences was presented to Dr. Abdullah Jawad Sultan, an associate professor in the Marketing Department at the Faculty of Administrative Sciences at Kuwait University. Holding a doctorate in business administration from the University of Washington, Dr. Sultan’s contributions include the publication of 17 scientific papers in refereed journals.
