On 14 August 2022, he died at the age of 25 after falling while climbing while measuring the Rucu Pichincha volcano in Ecuador. He was born in London. Banks attended Mearns High School in Newton Mearns, Rain Frau Shire. Oz Hochman was Gil’s childhood friend. Hochmann said that Gil was a good athlete. Gil was also a good sprinter. He was a good friend and took care of all his friends. I was so happy that I was a friend of Gil, I can’t believe he is no more in such a world, I never thought I would be separated from you like this.

The height of Ruku Pichincha is 15,413 feet or 4,698 meters. Rucu Pichincha is a dangerous volcano that erupted in 1998. Many geographers have tried to measure it before. Charles-Marie de la Condamine and members of the French Geodesic spent 23 days on him to measure Rocu Pichincha.
