Florida Woman and Toddler Rescued After Alleged Kidnapping During Online Date, Police Say

A Florida woman who traveled nearly three hours with her toddler daughter to meet a man she connected with online was allegedly held against her will inside his apartment, according to law enforcement officials. The frightening ordeal ended when police rescued both mother and child and arrested the suspect.

The incident occurred in Miami and is now under investigation by the Miami Police Department.

Date Takes a Dangerous Turn

Authorities say the woman traveled by train from Central Florida to Miami for what she believed would be a routine first date. She brought her 3-year-old daughter with her on the trip.

According to police, once inside the suspect’s apartment, the woman began to feel uncomfortable. Investigators allege that when she attempted to leave with her child, the man physically prevented her from exiting the residence.

The suspect has been identified as Saady Castellanos Triminio, 34.

Alleged Confinement and Escape

Police reports indicate that the suspect allegedly grabbed the woman’s phone and restrained her in an attempt to stop her from contacting anyone for help. At one point, authorities say he covered her mouth and nose during a struggle.

Fearing for her safety and that of her child, the woman reportedly managed to lock herself in a separate room and text a friend. That friend then contacted law enforcement.

Officers arrived at the apartment in the early morning hours and safely removed the woman and her toddler from the residence.

Arrest and Charges

Castellanos Triminio was taken into custody at the scene. He is facing multiple charges, including false imprisonment, battery, and child neglect. Court records show he remains jailed as legal proceedings begin.

As with all criminal cases, the suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Safety Concerns Raised

The case has sparked renewed conversations about online dating safety and the risks involved when traveling long distances to meet someone for the first time.

Law enforcement officials advise individuals to:

  • Meet in public places for initial dates

  • Inform trusted friends or family about plans

  • Avoid bringing children to first meetings

  • Trust instincts if something feels wrong

  • Contact authorities immediately if safety is threatened

Ongoing Investigation

Detectives continue to review evidence and statements related to the incident. Authorities are encouraging anyone with additional information to come forward.

The woman and her daughter are reported to be physically safe following the rescue.
