Newlyweds and a Mother Dead: DUI Driver Faces Judge After Margate Horror Crash

Tears filled the courtroom as Luis Wilches, whose wife, mother, and brother were all killed in a violent January crash, looked directly at the man accused of ending their lives.

Jeremiah Terrance Anderson, 26, stood silently as prosecutors laid out the chilling details: he was driving nearly double the speed limit, drunk, and high on THC when he ran a red light and slammed into a family’s car in Margate. The impact instantly killed three innocent people.

A Tragedy That Should Never Have Happened

The fatal crash took place shortly before midnight on January 15, at the intersection of North Rock Island Road and Royal Palm Boulevard. Anderson, behind the wheel of a 2022 BMW, was clocked at 86 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone.

According to investigators, Anderson ignored a red light, violently crashing into a Honda Accord carrying Brayan Steven Wilches Nino (24), his mother Diana Carlino Nino Espinosa (47), and his wife Nancy Sanchez (26).

All three were killed. Two other passengers, including a child, survived with injuries.

“This man took my wife, my son, my daughter-in-law — my entire life,” Luis Wilches said, his voice cracking during Anderson’s first court appearance. “He left us with nothing.”

DUI and Suspended License: A Dangerous Pattern

Toxicology reports show Anderson had a blood alcohol level of 0.152, nearly twice the legal limit, along with traces of THC, the psychoactive compound in marijuana. It also emerged in court that Anderson’s driver’s license had been suspended since 2022.

“This wasn’t a mistake. It was a choice,” the judge said as she ordered Anderson to remain in custody without bond.

Facing Justice

Anderson now faces 22 criminal charges, including:

  • 3 counts of DUI manslaughter

  • 3 counts of vehicular homicide

  • Reckless driving causing serious bodily injury

  • Driving with a suspended license causing death

Prosecutors say the evidence is overwhelming — black box data from the BMW, bloodwork, and eyewitness accounts all tell the same devastating story.

If convicted, Anderson could spend decades in prison.

A Family Destroyed

Brayan Wilches Nino had just turned 24. He and Nancy Sanchez were newlyweds with dreams of building a life together. Diana Nino was known for her warm smile and generous spirit — a mother who always put family first.

Now, they’re all gone. Luis Wilches has had to plan three funerals, carry unbearable grief, and raise his surviving grandchildren without their parents.

“No one should have to bury their children like this,” he said. “He stole our future.”

A Plea for Change

The Wilches family hopes this case sparks real change — not just justice for their loved ones, but stronger enforcement against repeat traffic offenders and more awareness about the dangers of impaired driving.

“People need to understand: one bad choice can destroy a dozen lives,” said a family friend. “What happened to this family could happen to anyone.”
