Bronx, New York — A 59-year-old woman from the Bronx has been arrested and charged in connection with the fatal shooting of a 24-year-old man outside her apartment building, authorities confirmed on Monday.

According to investigators, the incident happened late Sunday night near the entrance of a residential complex on East 143rd Street. Police say the confrontation began as a verbal dispute that quickly escalated into violence. During the altercation, the woman allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot the victim once in the chest.

Emergency responders arrived within minutes and rushed the injured man to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after. His identity is being withheld until his family is notified.

She now faces multiple charges, including second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon.

Residents in the neighborhood expressed shock, with many describing the area as generally peaceful despite occasional disputes. Several neighbors stated they heard a heated argument before the gunshot.
