Around 9:15 p.m., Samuel Lee Singletary Sr. was riding his bicycle north along Northwest 7th Avenue near NW 95th Street — a familiar route for the longtime Miami resident. Witnesses say he was doing what he loved: staying active, enjoying the breeze, and moving through the neighborhood that he knew by heart.

That’s when tragedy struck. A dark-colored sedan, believed to be speeding, hit Samuel with such force that parts of the car were left behind. The driver didn’t stop. There was no attempt to help. The car kept going.
